Hi everyone! Long time no see. This book was a lot of fun. Very simple, with no high stakes at all. Essentially a holiday romance novella that was a quick finish - I knocked it out today, honestly. Overall this is a very sweet story about the Night Court's Inner Circle celebrating the Winter Solstice together in the peace following the war with Highburn. Some war -moments are revisited and meetings with allies are mentioned, but other than that this short piece is more about the relationships being set up for the next novel in the series, especially focusing on Nesta and Cassian.

I loved the concept that everyone wanted to get gifts for each other and that there was a moment of drunken decorating and even a legendary snowball fight followed by some well-written spice. The content of this book was simple, but damn was it well-written and enjoyable. I didn't have any problems with it at all, because I felt like I was there, part of the inner circle myself.

Nest and Cassian having a moment toward the end of the book is a great set-up for the next book, and I'm looking forward to reading that one soon too! Nesta seems complex and I really don't understand her, other than she's angry and has a short fuse all the time. Zero patience, especially with Cassian (maybe because she pushes away people who she likes because she doesn't want to deal with the pain of losing them?). Regardless, I'm looking forward to their adventures and raunchy sex mostly because I feel Feyre and Rhys' story is complete, finally.

I don't know how I feel about Feyre and Rhys going for a family. It's not an inherently bad thing, but right after a war when the risk of retaliation is at its highest? Not to mention, they've only spent time with each other during the war - why not spend time with each other for a few years childless? Then again they are immortal fae and can literally do whatever they want because they're written that way.

Overall, save this one for your own Winter Solstice celebration and cozy up with your partner and read it to them over a few nights. Spend an hour on it for a week and you'll finish it. This one made me smile, and it was a nice break from a war-ridden world. Thank you Sarah J. Maas for the Night Court family and the winter celebrations. They warmed my heart.

-Much love,

Brieanna
